Servant. Prayer Warrior. Encourager. These are just a few of the words that describe Rose. Rose grew up in a rural area in Virginia where churches only held service once a month. She and her family visited surrounding churches the remaining Sundays. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age. People thought she was too young to know what she was doing, but she did. She learned to be a participant in activities in the church, it was the hub of the community.
In 1965, she followed her parents to New York, where all the churches held service every Sunday. What an anomaly to see the same people and hear the same preacher every Sunday! Says Rose, “Even though I knew God was with me I found myself giving into things of the flesh. As Paul says ‘for the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do.'”
In 1982 she and her daughter moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. On their 2nd day in the neighborhood, Pastor Franklin Evans knocked on the door and invited them to his church. “Within a short period of time I felt that God had sent me to New Mexico to save my spiritual life,” Rose recalls. “I rededicated my life back to the Lord and was baptized again in 2001.”
Rose has been a part of the Beautiful Gate movement from the beginning. She has a heart to serve, and an ear to listen for what God is saying. She leads our hospitality team, and is always at every event early, setting up, and late, cleaning up. She is also a part of our prayer team.
Her daughter Dani, son-in-law John, and grandson Jagger, also live in our neighborhood.
